She came from New York state to Michigan at the age of seven years with her parents. She was the last survivor of a family of five sisters and two brothers. She was united in marriage in 1881 to E.L. Custer, who departed this life July 1, 1904. To this union were born four children, three of whom Altha C. Gurner L. and Fay V. preceded their mother in death. Ivah G., who has been with her mother and cared for her since the beginning of her illness in September 1934. Mrs. Custer has been more or less confined to her home because of poor health for more than four years. She leaves to mourn her departure her daughter Ivah, one grandson, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Progressive Brethren church and attended services there in earlier life when she had the opportunity. She was well known in this community having lived here many years. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She lived a long and useful life and is now gone to her reward. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Thornapple Brethren church conducted by Rev. Messner and Rev. Roy McRoberts.
