Coroner Harry Myers, who was called, said Custer had been suffering a heart ailment and had died in his sleep. Custer was born April 30, 1863, in Cambric county, Pennsylvania. He came to Elmdale with his parents when he was three years old. He is a distant relative of General George A. Custer, and a retired farmer. His wife, Nancy Custer, died in December of 1939. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ira Sargeant of Elmdale, Mrs. Francis Schwab of Eagle and Miss Gladah Custer of Elmdale. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock and from the Mennonite church south of Elmdale at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be in the Mennonite cemetery. The body was taken to the Beattie funeral home at Clarksville.
