The Lake Odessa Wave, Wednesday, July 6, 1904


From our Campbell correspondent we received the following item concerning the 
death of Emaniah Custer which is a shock to his many friends in this 
vicinity.  He was well known here, having done considerable carpenter work 
here only last summer.  He went to Pennsylvania in the spring for an extended 
visit:

“The community was shocked when a telegram came Friday evening stating that 
Emaniah Custer had passed away at Johnstown, Pa.  Deceased was well and 
favorably known here, having lived here for a number of years.  He served here 
as justice of peace for 8 years and was a member of the town board.  Much 
sympathy is expressed at the loss of a friend and neighbor.  He has exchanged 
a life of trouble and sorrow for rest in the tomb.  Among friends and 
relatives his remains were laid to rest, Sunday afternoon, at Johnstown.”
