He was well known here, having done considerable carpenter work here only last summer. He went to Pennsylvania in the spring for an extended visit: “The community was shocked when a telegram came Friday evening stating that Emaniah Custer had passed away at Johnstown, Pa. Deceased was well and favorably known here, having lived here for a number of years. He served here as justice of peace for 8 years and was a member of the town board. Much sympathy is expressed at the loss of a friend and neighbor. He has exchanged a life of trouble and sorrow for rest in the tomb. Among friends and relatives his remains were laid to rest, Sunday afternoon, at Johnstown.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/c/custer8706nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
