Cutler, wife of Dr. W. R. Cutler, died early Tuesday morning at the home at 245 East Washington street, after a short illness following years of failing health. Mrs. Cutler’s maiden name was Olive York, and she was born in New York state in 1841 and come here in 1847 with her father’s family. Her father, John York, was one of the early property owners in Ionia, the part now known as York’s addition, being between Jackson street and Ellis Alley, on the south side of Main street and extending to the city limits. In November 1859, Oliver York married Dr. William R. Cutler, and shortly after they started to keeping house in the same home which they have now occupied continuously for nearly sixty years. To them seven children were born, of whom only two survive, John residing here at present, and Zene of Ann Arbor. Mrs. Cutler was one of those good housekeepers and faithful mothers who seemed to have been particularly the product of those pioneer days, and to have formed an ideal in the minds of people, which modern wives and mother find it difficult to live up to. The notice of the funeral services will be published later.
