CUTLERS BODY FOUND THIS MORNING FLOATING IN TWO FEET OF WATER. Learned Thursday Evening Near (illegible word) Chambers's Body was (illegible word) and a Piece of Her Dress was Brought up by the Searchers. The body of Mrs. George J. Cutler was recovered this morning and the anxiety over the sad affair in a measure makes it easier to bear. The searchers worked until late in the evening of the fourth of July and at the last moment before darkness, had settled over the lake, the grappling hook gave them a hard pull. They were out in the lake near where chambers body was found. While the hook was brought up they found a piece of Mrs. Cutlers dress hanging to it. With this good fortune as a result of a days strenuous endeavor, and an approaching storm upon them, they marked the place and gave up the task until morning, feeling confident that the lady would be located early. At 4:30 or 5 o'clock, this morning when they were returning to the lake the body was found floating in two feet of water near the shore. Undertaker Bradley was called for, but having three bodies on his hands here could not go, and Undertaker Dresser, of Big Rapids, took charge of the remains. It was expected that a metalic casket, which had been ordered from Grand Rapids, would be there this morning so that the remains will reach Ionia this afternoon at 5:30. The first encouraging news came to Ionia that evening when Will J. Winchell phoned Bert Lampkin that the body had been located. At 5 this morning Mr. Winchell again called up and said that the body had been found. Mr. Winchell had been one of the hardest workers, and at Mr. Cutlers request was to stay there today and direct operations. Will Peer, another worker, came home Thursday noon, as he was obliged to go to Chicago. A patrol was to be established this morning at the lake, as the authorities there warned the searchers that in all probability the body would rise the fourth day. It is supposed the grappling hook loosened the body on the evening of the fourth, so that it soon came to the surface of the water. It would have been four days in the water at noon today. Fred Wertman, Mayor Bible, W. C. Snell, Martin Weiler were others who were with Mr. Cutler at the lake on the fourth. Harvey Bentley, who went north with his daughter, came home Thursday with Mr. Peer, and was left at Stanton where he is with his brother, Hal. Mr. Bentley is bearing up as well as could be expected, and is not seriously affected as reported. The funeral for Mrs. Cutler will be attended at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the residence. CHAMBERS, both of Ionia, Mich., lost their lives in Chippewa lake in attempting to land the fish. The pickerel was hooked upon a trolling line and running under the keel upset the boat, throwing CHAMBERS and MRS. CUTLER into the water, drowning them. Searching parties with grappling irons brought the fish to the surface dead and still attached to the hook. The bodies of CHAMBERS and MRS. CUTLER have not as yet been found. The drowned woman was spending a vacation with her father and young son at Chippewa lake. CHAMBERS is a neighbor of the CUTLERS at Ionia.
