He had been an employee of the Standard Oil company for 24 years and was manager of the company’s Ionia bulk plant. Daane had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past two years and two weeks ago was ordered to bed by his physician when the condition reappeared. He was born September 15, 1882 in the Netherlands and came to the United States when eight years of age. During his youth he lived in Grand Rapids, where he was married in November 1900 to Miss Teresa Sullivan of Grand Rapids. He first became identified with the Standard Oil company in Grand Rapids. Daane was a member of the Grand Rapids Malta F. & A. M. lodge No. 465 and a past president of the Sigma Theta fraternity of Greenville, an organization of business men. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Martha LeMay of Washington, D. C.; two sons, Homer of Greenville and William at home; his father, Cornelius Daane, a brother, Peter Daane, and two sisters, Miss Cornelia Daane and Mrs. Anna Fenske, all of Grand Rapids. Funeral services are to be held from the Boynton funeral chapel in Ionia Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock. Rev. S. C. Parsons, pastor of the Greenville Congregational church, will officiate, and interment will be at the Rosedall cemetery at Grand Rapids. Subsequent Publication: Funeral services for Homer Daane, manager of the Standard Oil company bulk station at Ionia, were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. with Rev. F. G. Dunbar officiating. Interment was in the Rosedale memorial park in Grand Rapids. Floral arrangements were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brown and August Odinga. Active pallbearers were Howard Wilson, Harold Voss, Allen Heifield, John Christenson, Howard Kipp and Wyman Beck of Greenville. Honorably pallbearers were 22 members of the Sigma Theta fraternity of Greenville. Attending the services were representatives of the Standard Oil company in Grand Rapids and 41 representatives of the company’s outstate agents. Mr. Daane had been associated with the company for 24 years. Relatives who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Daane Jr., of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. K. L. LeMay of Washington, D. C., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eberlein, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Sullivan of Detroit; Cornelius Daane, Peter Daane, Miss Cornelia Daane, Mr. and Mrs. John Korstange, Mr. and Mrs. Reinard Fenske, Robert Fenske, Howard Fenske, Kenneth Fenske, William Sullivan, Mr. and Mrs. John Colleton, Mary Katherine Colleton, Count Mulcheske and Ike Vanbreda of Grand Rapids.
