Short Illness Fatal to Central School Caretaker, Whose Service Has Been Loyal and Efficient for Years. Stephen Dadd, aged 61, passed away this morning at his home, 120 Tower Street at 5:15, after an illness of about two weeks. He suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered. For nearly 15 years, Mr. Dadd has been connected with the Ionia public schools as janitor of the Central building. The beautiful beds of flowers in the Central yard has been the result of careful work which was done by Mr. Dadd. Mr. Dadd was one of the most efficient and painstaking employees who ever cared for Ionia schools. Mr. Dadd is a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge and a member of the Maccabees. Besides his wife he leaves the following children: Mrs. Florence Brooks, Stephen Dadd, Ray Dadd, Lester Dadd, Ivan Dadd, Charles Dadd, and Howard Dadd, of this city, and Mrs. Ruth Magnant of Madison Wis., also four grandchildren. He leaves four brothers, George Dadd, of California, Thomas Dadd, of Oregon, William Dadd and Philmer Dadd, both of England, also three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Dadd, Miss Ellen Dadd and Mrs. Florence Vance, all residing in England. The funeral will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 2:30 and burial will take place in Highland Park cemetery.
