The Ionia County News, Thursday, February 14, 1929


Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. W. D. Wilcox, South Ionia, 
Friday for her mother, Mrs. Katherine Ellen Daken, 71, who died late Tuesday 
evening at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Maude Gemuend.  Rev. H. G. 
Hurrell, of the Ionia Church of Christ, will officiate.  Burial will be in 
Highland Park mausoleum.

Mrs. Daken was born in Cass county.  After her marriage to Frank Phelps she 
resided in Hillsdale and Sturgis.  Mr. Phelps died in 1896 and in 1903 she was 
married to Fineous Daken.  He died about three years ago.

She is survived by the daughters, three sons, Clifford Phelps, Lansing; Lee, 
of Ionia; Verne, Brockton, Mass., and Carl, Saginaw, and two stepchildren, 
Earl Daken, Rockford and Mrs. Bernie Humphrey, Ionia.
