The son of James E. and Bonnie L. Holderman Dakin, he was born Dec. 21, 1979, in Greenville. After graduating from Greenville High School in 1998, Chad attended Michigan State University and Western Michigan University. He then began a career as a financial planner with Hantz Financial Group, working at its offices in Lansing and Grand Rapids. Chad loved to play tennis and golf as well as boating, wakeboarding and snowboarding, and was a loyal Spartan fan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Rosella Dakin, Francis and Hazel Holderman; and three uncles, Gerald Holderman, Sheldon Dakin, Allen Dakin. His maternal aunt, Darlene Sherd, joined him in heaven on Wednesday, June 7, after her fight with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Bonnie Dakin of Greenville; fiancée, Jessica Stillman of Greenville; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Clara Dakin of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law, Darci and Ron Face of Marshall; five nieces and nephews, Zach Dakin, Cameron Face, Brandon Face, Tara Dakin, Kaitlyn Face; aunts and uncles, Howard Dakin of Cedar Springs, Sam Sherd of Greenville, Ann Harden of Brutus, Edward Holderman of Greenville, Maxine Dakin of Greenville, Carol Dakin of Greenville, Chris Dakin of Caledonia, Phyllis Holderman-VanDyke, and her husband Bruce, of Arizona; several cousins; and many special friends. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenville Community Church, 6596 Vining Road, with burial following in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church will officiate. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Brown-Teman and Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin St., Greenville.
