He was born April 12, 1888 in Breckenridge, the son of Jeremiah and Hattie Bradford Dancer and attended school there. After leaving school he went to work in Flint for three years, then moving to Ithaca where he owned and operated a restaurant several years. He came to Ionia in 1927 and worked at Michigan Reformatory as a corrections officer until 1942 at which time he was transferred to Southern Michigan Prison at Jackson and was retired from there in 1947. He was married to the former Addie Ingles, May 9, 1917 at Alma and after retirement he and his wife moved to Florida where they made their home until 1961 when they moved back to Ionia. He was a member of First Christian church and Retired Teachers association of which his wife was a member. He is survived by a son, Franklin Dancer of Allegan; a daughter, Mrs. R. K. Braman of Lathrup Village; one grandson; two brothers, Roy of St. Louis, Charles of Breckenridge; two sisters, Mrs. John Weed of Gaylord and Mrs. Harry St. John of Saginaw. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Boynton funeral home with Rev. Theodore Forbes of First Christian church officiating. Interment will be in Crystal township cemetery. Family will be at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.
