He was born in 1812, at Burlington, Vt. In 1827 he went to New York state, where in 1834 he was united in marriage to Miss Eunice Merryfield; as the fruitage of this union eight children were given – two sons and six daughters. In 1854 he came to Michigan, where he has since resided. In early life he became a Christian and was ever found an earnest and consistent advocate of the faith. In his political relations he was a republican, being at his death a member of the Harrison club. He leaves to mourn his loss an aged companion, seven children, thirty two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, besides a large circle of friends.
