Jackson told Ionia state police he had arrived at the Daniels home, at 628 Second street, Lake Odessa, and discovered a note leading him to an outbuilding behind the house where the body was found. Coroner Dale Kauffman reported strangulation as cause of death and said Daniels apparently had been dead since about 10 a.m. New Year’s Day. Daniels was born January 14, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Daniels of Sebewa township, and had resided in Ionia county his entire life. He had retired from farming 20 years ago and moved to Lake Odessa where he was employed by the Lake Odessa canning company for several years. In 1947 Daniels and his wife, the former Ethel Cook, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Daniels passed away in 1953. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Burr Jackson, a son, La Verne Daniels of Lake Odessa, 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Daniels also leaves a brother, A.W. Daniels of Lake Odessa, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Kimball of Grand Rapids. The body is at Pickens funeral chapel where services are scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
