SARAH KINNEY-DANIELS Mrs. Sarah Daniels, whose maiden name was Kinney, was born in Wacousta, Clinton Co, Mich. February 13th, 1841 and died at her home in Sebewa June 1st, 1909 at the age of 68 years. In early life she moved with her father's people to Portland, Mich. which was her home until her marriage to Mr. O.W.Daniels, July 10th, 1864. Mr.Daniels was at that time a soldier & was at home on furlough at the time of the wedding. When he finished his service in the army, Mr.Daniels & his young wife moved onto a new farm in the woods of Sebewa where they continued to reside. Her children are all living with the exception of one son who died in early childhood. Her sons are Sylvester, Andrus, Jay & Tillison; and her daughters Mrs.F.E. Kimble, Mrs.D.C Ingall, Mrs S.L Kauffman & Miss Cora who has lived at home with her parents. All of hr children are living near the old home & were near to comfort & cheer her in her last sickness. Mrs. Daniels was reared in a religious home, her father & mother were devote followers of Christ & when a Baptist Church was organized, her husband united with that society under the Ministery of Rev. McDonald. Her last illness was long & painful but with Christian fortitude she endured it without a murmur against the providence of God.She had a loving farewell to her husband & children & expressed her earnest desire to depart & be at rest with her Savior. Besides her husband & children, there were present at the funeral two sisters, Mrs.Mary Jenkins of Reed City & Mrs. Hattie Newman of Hersey. She also leaves a sister Mrs.Delilah Taylor of Alma & a brother Jerome Kinney of Alma. She was a loving wife, a devoted & affectionate mother & a kind neighbor. She loved God & the fellowship of Christian people, and she will be greatly missed in the church & community. The funeral was largely attended, and was held in the Sebewa Baptist Church. Rev. A.T. Luther of Lake Odessa preached the funeral sermon, taking for a text Hebrew 6.19 "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure & steadfast, and which, entereth into that within the vale." A choir of male voices gave selections of sacred songs, & quietly the whole congregation moved to the cemetery, & there in the Old Church Yard the precious dust was laid to rest.
