Mrs. Vera Margaret Darling, 83, wife of Hiram H. Darling of 2646 South State 
road, died Tuesday evening at the Ionia Manor after being a patient the past 
four months.

Born in Danby township September 25, 1891, she was the daughter of Peter and 
Rose Bennett. She attended the Portland schools and was a graduate of the 
Portland high school.

In August of 1929 she was married to Hiram H. Darling in South Bend, Ind., and 
the made their home in Ionia since.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of Ionia and honorary member of 
the Order of Eastern Star of Portland.

Surviving are the husband, Hiram; two sons, Robert Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn., 
and Clyde Darling of Bedford, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Rayburn of 
Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Ruth Werner of Dearborn and Mrs. Dorothy Layhe of St. 
Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 pm at the Leddick funeral home. Rev. Roy 
A. Pitts of the First Baptist church will officiate and entombment will be at 
the Highland Park mausoleum.

The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. 

A memorial has been established for the First Baptist church of Ionia.
