                             GERTRUDE V. DARLING

HASLETT- Gertrude V.Darling, 70, of Haslett, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Oct. 
12 at a Lansing Hospital.

She was bornJan. 18, 1918, in Woodland, the daughter of Sylvester and Vera Ehret 
Curtis.

She was graduated from Woodland High School.

She married DeForrest Darling in Lake Odessa, He preceded her in death.

After marriage, they moved to  East Lansing, where she lived until 1970. She 
then moved to Haslett.

She was employed for 25 years inLansing School District's Beekman Center for the 
handicapped.

Surviving are a son, Douglas Darling of east Lansing; several grandchildren; 
seven sisters, Thelma Barnum of Hastings, Violet Jordan of Lake Odessa, Nellie 
Wells of Woodbury, Artie Nicker son of Lansing, Mildred Waldron of Woodbridge, 
Ohio, Joyce Vroman of Saranac, and Barbara Weeks of Middleville; five brothers 
Kendall Curtis of Woodland, Elwin Curtis of Tennessee, Carl Curtis of Lake 
Odessa, and Glendon Curtis of Woodland.

One son, Marvin and three sisters, Dorothy McLeod, Attie Lessell and Letha 
Southwell, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. a the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake 
Odessa, the Rev. Robert Kersten officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery in Lake Odessa.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m.
