Darling was born in the state of New York Dec. 5, 1834, and died in Belding, Mich., December 16, 1914, at the age of 80 years and 11 days. He came to Calhoun County, Michigan with his parents at the age of eight years, where he lived until twenty-nine years ago when he sold his farm and came to Carson City and bought the farm now owned by Andrew Myers, where he lived until twelve years ago when he sold out and moved to Belding where he resided until his death. January 2, 1870 he was married to Miss Francis J. Lazarus of Palo, and six children were born to this union, five of whom are living. He is survived by his widow and children, who are Sylvia L. Poff of Olivet; P.H. Darling, Carson City; Charles F. Darling of Lansing, and W. E. and Floyd V. Darling of Belding. Also one sister, Mrs. Clarisa Budlong of Harbor Springs, who is 91 years of age. The funeral services were held at the home in Belding, Friday at two o’clock and the remains were brought to Carson City Saturday and laid to rest in the family lot in the cemetery here, Rev. H. V.
