Feb. 7, 1919 BRIGHT YOUNG MAN LEAVES INFLUENCE One of the Communities Best Young Men Victim of Pneumonia. Greatly Missed by Friends. Frank Darnell was the only one of the family who succumbed to the effects of influenza a few weeks ago. At the time of his death several in the home were down with the disease and the body of Frank was placed in the vault at Lakeside. Last week the body was buried, the family having recovered sufficiently for funeral services. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends, especially the many young people who knew him so well. His schoolmates and classmates all speak of him in the highest terms of praise. OBIITURAY: Frank A. Darnell, oldest son of Henry and Ella Darnell was born in Berlin township, Ionia county, Sept. 7th, 1897, and died Jan. 7th, 1919, being 21 years and four months old. He was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School, and a great reader and lover of good books and had read the Bible through two or three times. He was a young man of promise, possessed of rare virtues, very kind and affectionate to all in the home and a peacemaker. His future prospects were exceptionally bright. He was the mainstay of his father and a great comfort and help to his mother, and the family have the deepest sympathy of the public in their bereavement, who would console them in that their loss is a gain, his work here has been finished and He who doeth all things well will reward him abundantly. He had accepted Jesus in a revival a few years ago. He would have been a recruit for the next call had not the war closed, he having been called for examination and was excepted. He leaves to mourn his seemingly untimely death, his father and mother, three brothers, two sisters and a host of friends. Our beloved Frank has gone before, His departure we deeply deplore. the things he loved are here still, He left them, it was God's will. How we miss thee none may know, But God hath called thee to go To His abode, through his open door, There to be with Him forevermore.
