          HENRY DARNELL DIED IN IONIA FRIDAY AFTERNOON

   After a brief illness, Henry B. Darnell, 75, died Friday afternoon at the Ionia
Community hospital.

   Born in Berlin township April 21, 1866, the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Darnell,
who were early settlers of 
Berlin township, he lived most of his life in that vicinity.  He married Ella
Whittier in 1896, and the couple made 
their home on a farm in Berlin.

   He served as township highway commissioner for two terms, and as a school
director.  After his retirement 
from active farming in 1921, they moved to Ionia city.  In Ionia he was active in
settling estates.

   He was a member of the Lake Odessa Odd Fellows.  Three children, Frank, Floyd and
Violet preceded him in 
death, and Mrs. Darnell's death occurred in 1933.

   Surviving are two sons, Arthur and William, of Ionia, and a daughter Mrs. Myrtle
Wing of Battle Creek.  Five 
grandchildren also survive.

   Funeral services were conducted from the Stone funeral home in Ionia Sunday
afternoon with burial being 
made in Lakeside cemetery in Odessa.

   Bearers were Reuben Schnabel, Robert Ainsworth, Robert Wison, Titus Winslow, Burt
Winslow and Roy 
Slater.
