Sergt. Leroy L. Dausman, Member of Old Company D, Arrives at Home. Saranac, September 30. – A military funeral for Sergt. Leroy L. Dausman of this village will be held here Sunday afternoon at 1:?0 o’clock standard time, in the M. E. church, Rev. S. S. Ross of Big Rapids officiating. Sergt. Dausman was one of the first Saranac boys to enlist in the service. He joined Company D, national guard, at Ionia, June 26, 1917 and was with this outfit until the time of his death in the Argonne forest, October 4, 1918, the same day that John F. Girard of Ionia was killed. The Saranac American Legion post was named for Sergt. Dausman. Frank Dausman, father of the dead soldier, lives in Saranac. Two sisters and two brothers also survive. Members of Company D and many other former service men and veterans will be present at the funeral. A firing squad will fire a salute to the dead and taps will be sounded at the grave. Burial will take place in the Saranac cemetery.
