Davenport, 84, of 318 Kearney St., Portland, died Friday in Lowell. Born June 19, 1901, in Ionia Township, he was the son of Walter and Maggie Quigley Davenport. A licensed furnace installer, plumber and tinsmith, he worked all his life in the Portland area. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post in Portland. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia. Surviving are his wife Dora; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Jean) Hummel of Ionia; a daughter in law, Anne Davenport of Muir; two step-daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanette) Scheurer of Lyons and Mrs. LeRoy (Mary) Reed of Middleville; a step son, Earl Esterline, of Lowell; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Peck of Greenville and Clara Church of California, and a brother, Royal Davenport, of Greenville. A son, Roger, and a stepdaughter, Lorene Weller, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home, Portland, with the Rev. Kathryn Williams of Zion United Methodist Church of Ionia officiating. Burial will be in Portland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Esterline, Lyle Hummel, LeRoy Reed, Dan Weller, Paul Fate and James Scheurer; honorary pallbearers will be Keith Neller, Kenneth Click and Kenneth Christenson.
