Lois S. Davenport, 79, of Carson City, passed away Tuesday evening July 29, 
2014 at Great Lakes Specialty Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Lois was born on 
November 7, 1934 in Stanton, the daughter of Watson A. and Florence L. 
(Bennett) Barker. 

She graduated from Stanton High School with the Class of 1953 and was a member 
of the Sheridan VFW Post 5065-Ladies Auxiliary.  In earlier years she helped at 
school functions and field trips with her children and enjoyed gardening and 
fishing.  She was married on April 16, 1956 in Stanton to Virgil L. Davenport 
and he preceded her in March of 1985. 

Lois was also preceded by her parents and one sister; Esther Baxter.  Lois is 
loved and survived by her children; John Davenport of Carson City, Laurie (Tom) 
Mahar of Hot Springs, SD, Mike (Nancy) Davenport of Fowler, Steven (Brenda) 
Davenport of Winston-Salem, NC, Roger (Rebecca) Davenport of Carson City, her 
grandchildren; Lindsey, Amanda, Brandon, Blake, Tyler, Jessica, Dylan, her 
great grandchildren; Greysen and Lettie, her brother; Percy and Joyce Barker of 
Stanton and her nieces and nephews. 

Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Crystal 
Cemetery with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Following the service a luncheon 
will be held at the Sheridan VFW Post.  No visitation will take place.  
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hope Lodge or the Sheridan VFW.
