The remains were brought home on the Saturday evening train and funeral services were held Monday with about three hundred in attendance. Rev. D.E. Hills officiated. -------- Smyrna – Thomas Davis was born in the year 1873, in Kent county, he being 27 years of age at his death, which occurred December 29th at Butterworth hospital Grand Rapids. When he was five weeks old his father died and at three years of age he went to reside with his uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis where he remained till grown to manhood, being cared for in a kind and parental way by his aunt, uncle, brother and two cousins, who feel his loss most deeply. In 1894 he was married to Blanche Joslin, oldest child of C.W. Joslin of this place. Three children were born to them, two sons and one daughter, that are left with their mother to mourn his loss. He as a member of the K.O.T.M. He was a kind and loving husband and father and had a great many friends at this place. He was a member of Smyrna cornet band and kind and jolly Tommy will be missed very much. He seemed resigned to his fate at the last and felt confident that God would care for his sorrowing family. The floral offerings presented by the K.O.T.M. were very beautiful. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Elder Hillis officiating.
