Her husband who was at the barn but a short distance from the house heard the shot and hurried to the house where he found his wife breathing her last. Mrs. Davis had apparently seated herself in a chair before a heating stove, placed the butt of the gun against the stove and discharged the gun by pressing the trigger with a piece of a yardstick. Ill health was given as the cause of her act. She had been suffering from a nervous ailment for many months and had been to Ann Arbor for treatment at one time. She had spent much of the fall and winter with her son, Clem Davis, at Oneida Center, with whom she had visited last week returning home only Sunday. The husband and son are her only survivors.
