He had been in ill health for ten years and a patient in the hospital the past four weeks. For several years he was employed in Baxter’s Restaurant, W. Main St., which he managed from 1931 until it closed in 1936(?). Surviving are his widow, the former Nellie Collier, two daughters, Mrs. Frieda Kane and Mrs. Laura Stone, a brother, Percy Davis, three grandchildren, all of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. William Rivett, Detroit and Mrs. Laura Kerekes of Lowell. Rev. A. R. Kuehn of Zion Evangelical church will conduct the funeral which will be at 2:30 Saturday afternoon from Boyntons. Burial in Highland Park cemetery. ------ Ionia Sentinel Standard, 12 Jan 1946 Funeral services for Charles Davis, 316 Yeomans street, who died Thursday at 4:30 a.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Boynton funeral home with the Rev. A.R. Kuehn officiating. Interment will be at the Highland park cemetery. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Kane and Mrs. George Stone of Ionia, his mother, Mrs. Margaret Staal of Ionia, a brother, Percy of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. William Rivett of Detroit and Mrs. Laura Kerekes of Lowell, and three grandchildren.
