It was held under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, assisted by the G.A.R., of both of which he was a member. Rev. J.C. Cook officiated. Mr. Davis was an old pioneer of Ionia county, coming to Odessa in an early day. For the past few years he has been in poor health and having a son and only child in California decided two years ago to spend the winter there and has been there since up to his death which occurred Nov. 8. His son accompanying his remains here Friday night. He was a man highly esteemed for his manly courage, his high ideas and beautiful character, and in all hearts he will ever be a tender memory.
