Davis, 94, a barber for over 60 years, died at the Ionia Rest home on East Main street at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, after being a patient there since last Wednesday. Before that he had been a patient at the Eckert Nursing home since February. He was born in Indiana September 16, 1857, and spent the greater part of his life in Traverse City. For the last 15 years he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Joe Harp, of West Riverside Drive, South Ionia. He was a former member of the Traverse City I.O.O.F. Surviving besides the daughter is a son, Claude, of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert, of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held at the Boynton funeral home Thursday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. William W. Pixley will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Traverse City.
