He was born July 8, 1936 in White Cloud, the son of Earl H. and Marian L. (Eveland) Davis. He would go on to marry Nancy Bennett Sept. 15, 1989 in Ionia. Mr. Davis was a past police officer at the Eggleston Township Police Department in Muskegon. He later went on to work as a corrections officer at the Riverside Corrections Facility in Ionia from 1977 to 1991. He was a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge. He loved to golf, bowl, write poetry and play bingo and play with his puppies. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Nancy; sons, Donald Davis of Florida, David (Rose) Davis of Wisconsin, Daniel Davis of Ionia, Robert (Deb) Helmes of Ionia and Bruce (Terrsa) Helmes of Ionia; daughters, Debbie Davis of Ionia and Diana (Todd) Owen of Indiana; brothers, Robert Davis and Richard (Fran) Davis both of Muskegon; half brother, Harry Lee Davis of Muskegon; sisters, Lorraine Brunner of Minnesota and Ruby Gilewski of Grand Rapids; half-sister, Elaine Anderson of Muskegon; grand-children, Terra Resterhouse, Andrea (Ryan) Adgate, Jeff Owen, Michael Davis, Angelika Davis, Loren Hill, Steven Davis, Robert Helmes Jr., Misty Helmes, Stephanie (Ray) Granger and Al Helmes; six great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray Davis; and one sister, Rosemary Campbell. Funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
