J. A. DAVIS, A FORMER LOCAL PASTOR, DIED MONDAY Word was received here Monday evening of the death of the Rev. J. A. Davis, 91, at his home in Lansing. The Rev. Davis served the First United Brethren church here as pastor, the first time about 50 years ago, for one year, leaving soon after the death of a daughter here. Later, the family returned to Lake Odessa with the Rev. Davis serving a five-year pastorate, then he was transferred to Eaton Rapids about 1916. While here he held the largest revival known in the history of the local church, having 60 conversions. He also organized the young people''s class and the Christian Endeavor Junior society He is survived by two sons, Herbert and Victor. The body was brought to Lake Odessa, Tuesday, where it will lie in state at the Wortley & Baine chapel until Friday noon. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 at the First U. B. church, and burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
