July 26, 1934 MRS.SOPHIA DAVIS DIED JULY 18, 1934 Loyal Member of United Brethren Church, Early Resident of Barry County. One by one the children of the early settlers of this part of the country are gradually taking their departure from their earthly scene of action. At the age of 82 years, Mrs.Sophia Davis, mother of Mrs.Milton Brow of this village, passed away after a long life of Christian stewardship. Being reared in a home of religious culture she maintained that spirit and attitude bringing comfort and consolation to her family and leaving a record of a life fully of Christian loyalty. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon, Rev. Ronald A Hoffman of Calvary United Brethren church officiated. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Sophia Meyers, daughter of John and Catherine Meyers, was born in Barry county, Mich., January 2, 1852, died July 18, 1934, aged 82 years, seven months and 16 days. Her father was a pioneer circuit minister and died as a soldier in the Civil war. She was one of a family of five who have all departed this life. She was united in marriage to Daniel M.Davis, June 1874. He preceded her to the world beyond eleven years ago. To this union were born one son Clayton, and a daughter Mrs.Ruby Brown; five grandchildren mourn a kind and loving grandmother. She was converted at an early age and united with the United Brethren church of which she was still a member at the time of her death. She was a member of the Woman's Missionary society for nearly forty years. She lived a consistent Christian life and professed full belief in God's love and care.
