Ionia Daily Standard, 30 Mar 1883

Samuel Davy, a deputy sheriff and for a long time one of the sheriff’s officers
in this city, died at his residence on Summit street on Monday evening.  He was
buried with Masonic honors yesterday under the auspices of Ionia Lodge No. 86,
F.&A.M. of which he was a member.  Mr. Davy had been ill for several months
although not confined to his room but a comparatively short time.  He leaves a
wife and three children.  The Light Guard furnished an escort.
