The Belding Banner, Thursday, May 2, 1968


Bernice C. Dawson, 76, of Belding passed away at the Belding Community Hospital 
Sunday evening.  She had been a patient there for the past 13 weeks.  She was 
born to Alma and Alfred Nixon in Shiawassee County July 31, 1892 and spent most 
of her life in the Owosso-Corunna area with the exception of the last nine 
years which she spent in Belding.  She was married August 25, 1914 to Fritz G. 
Dawson who preceded her in death in 1941.  Her residence before hospitalization 
was at 221 ½ S. Pleasant.

Mrs. Dawson leaves a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Iola) Elliott of Belding, a stepson 
Gordon L. Dawson of Owosso, two granddaughters, Mrs. Bruce (Peggy) Rose of Rio 
Piedras, Puerto Rico and Mrs. Josephine Quillan of Grand Rapids, seven great 
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was a member of the First 
congregational Church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Huffman Funeral Home with 
Rev. W. D. Wood officiating.  Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso.
