Day was born May 18th, 1848, in Mesoptamia, Ohio, the son of Edward and Katherine Day. In 1866 he moved to Bloomer township, Montcalm county, Michigan with his parents. On Oct. 25, 1871 he was united in marriage with Adeline Proctor in North Shade township, Gratiot county, and they lived in that vicinity until 1881, when they moved to Hubbardston. Since that time they have been continuous residents of that village, with the exception of the past few winters which they spent at Muskegon Heights. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Parr, December 1, 1931, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 13 days. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Adeline Day, two sons, Roy, of Colorado and Archie, of Corning, California; two daughters, Mrs. Ada Parr, of Muskegon Heights, and Mrs. Elva Harris, of San Barnadino, California, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Emma Gauld and Mrs. Almeda Raven, of Grand Rapids. On October 24, last, Mr. and Mrs. Day celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Hubbardston Community Hall with many of their old friends and relatives. The body was brought from Muskegon Heights Thursday morning, December 3, and the funeral service was held in the Methodist church, Floyd N. Drake, the pastor officiating.
