Mrs. Lillis S. Dean Passed Away Last Friday Morning at a Ripe Old Age. Mrs. Lillis S. Dean died at the home of her son, George Dean, of Eureka township, last Friday morning, March 12, 1909, of apoplexy, after five years of very feeble health, aged 81 years, 2 months and 14 days. Lillis S. Myers was born at Pownel Center, Vermont, on Dec. 28, 1827. At the age of 23, she was married to Mr. Asa Dean. In 1856, they came to Michigan, locating on a farm in southwest Eureka township. Eight children were born to this union, five of whom are now living and are as follows: Mrs. James Avery, of this city; Kelly Dean, of Hart; Sylvian Dean, of Barryton; George Dean, of Eureka; and Mrs. Eris Perry, of Palo. Her husband passed away 28 years ago last January, since which she has made her home almost entirely with her son, George. She is also survived by seventeen grand-children and five great-grand- children. Deceased was an affectionate wife, a fond mother, a kind and obliging neighbor and friend. She has lived a sincere and devoted Christian life from her childhood and was highly respected and esteemed by all who knew her sterling worth. Funeral services were held at the house last Sunday at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, conducted by Rev. Lankin, pastor of the Greenville Baptist church.
