Dean, 71, 202 Wright Street, Cadillac, a former resident of Ionia, died Wednesday noon at his home. He had been ill the past five years. He was born April 13, 1888 in Eureka Township. He was married to Florence Holcomb of Belding who died in 1933, September 25, 1939 he was married to Rilla Misner at Ionia. Mr. Dean had lived in Cadillac for the past nine years and was a barber by trade. He lived at Ionia from 1917 until 1944 when he moved to Lansing, Charlevoix and then to Cadillac. He was a member of the Temple Hill Baptist church of Cadillac. Surviving besides his wife, Rilla are two sons, Albert Dean of Traverse City and Fred of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Mary Ann) Hamilton of Charlevoix and Mrs. Ivy Montgomery of Cadillac; nine grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; three brothers, John Dean of Lansing, George of Ionia, and James of Lake Odessa, and two sisters, Mrs. Don Harrington of Greenville and Mrs. Roy Whitecell of Ionia. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm at the Ionia Lincoln Avenue Baptist church with burial in Highland Park cemetery. The Rev. Vern Wessman of Cadillac will officiate. Prayer service will be held at 8 pm at the Peterson funeral home in Cadillac.
