Dean, 69, of Ionia, died Jan. 8 the Belding Christian Nursing Home. He was born the son of George A. and Audrey Smith Dean on June 10, 1921 in Grand Rapids. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ionia and the Sheridan VFW Post #5065. He married Margaret Malokosky on April 24, 1944. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Judy Lange of Ionia; one son, Ronald E. of Ionia; five grandchildren; five brothers, Harold of Saranac, Glen of Arizona, Roger of Saranac, Russell of Stanton and Wayne of Perry; and two sisters Myrtle Miller of Arizona and Dorothy Parks of Mecosta. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vern. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Ionia with the Rev. James Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Balcolm Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Larry Dean, Jay Parker, Lyle Hummel, Wendell Yager, James Stencel, and Ben Rusnell. A memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
