The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, February 19, 1960


William A. Dean, 98, route four, Berlin township, died Thursday night at an 
Ionia nursing home where he had been a patient several years.  He was born in 
Ionia county January 26, 1862, and was married to Kitty Bennett who died 
several years ago.  Mr. Dean was a retired farmer and worked for a number of 
years as sexton at the Letts cemetery.  He was a member of the Gleaners.

Surviving are a son, Harvey Dean of Carson City; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Myers funeral home and will be 
announced.

Funeral service for William A. Dean, 98, who died February 18 at the Ionia 
Rest home was held Thursday afternoon at the Meyers funeral home.  The Rev. 
Theodore Timler, pastor of St. Johns Lutheran church, officiated and burial 
was at Letts cemetery.

Bearers, grandsons of Mr. Dean, were Donald, Robert, Vern, Harold, George and 
Roger Dean.

Out of town persons attending included Mr. and Mrs. Russel Dean of 
Williamston, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dean and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Parks of Lansing; 
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dean, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dean 
of Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schaffer and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dean and 
Robert of Carson City.
