June 22, 2013 LAKE ODESSA, MI-Max Arden Decker, age 85, of Lake Odessa, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013 in Grand Rapids. Max was born to Zeno and Evelyn (Austin) Decker in Lake Odessa on February 7, 1928. He married Phyllis Lapworth on June 17, 1951. During their almost 62 years of marriage, they raised two children. Max was employed as a rural carrier by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1987 after 35 years. He also worked for the area grain elevator. Max proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Max will be missed dearly by his wife Phyllis; children Tom Decker of Grand Rapids and Julia (Randy) Vanhoof of Zeeland; two grandchildren, Casey Vanhoof and Alison Vanhoof; brothers, Earl Decker of Florida, Wayne (Shirley) Decker of Hastings and sister-in-law Norma Decker. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday June 25, at Central United Methodist Church, Lake Odessa with Pastor Karen Sorden officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Max may be given to the Central Untied Methodist Church. Max's family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.koopsfc.com.
