March 18, 1986 ROY G. DECKER POMONA, CALIF. - Roy G. Decker, 78, of Pomona, formerly of Ionia, died March 6 in a Pomona hospital. He was born April 9, 1907 in Ionia and attended Pomona College, San Bernadino Valley College, the University of Indiana and USC. He was employed in the banking business until his retirement in 1972. He served 20 years on the Pomona Board of Education, the longest term in the board's history. An elementary school in the district carries his name. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, and was active in Pomona civic affairs. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; a son, Robert, of Menlo Park; a daughter, Carol Grant of Claremont; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be March 23 at 2:3 p.m. in the Todd Memorial Chapel in Pomona, and burial will be private.
