Belding Home News, 5 Feb 1880

Died.  At the residence of Wm. Knott in this village Sunday morning, Feb. 1, 
Mr. Simeon Decker, aged about 60 years.

Mr. Decker has, for the most part of 14 years past, made his home in the family 
of Wm. Knott, and has shown himself an interested inmate.  For some years past 
he has been a sufferer from lung disease.  On Saturday night he was taken 
violently ill.  He complained of a severe headache, and vomited profusely; and 
from this he passed into an unconscious state, and continued so until the time 
of his death.  A large number of citizens attended the obsequies at the 
residence of Mr. Knott on Tuesday forenoon, and the family did everything that 
could be done to show proper respect to one who was without kindred to 
administer to his last wants and drop a tear of love over his grave.  Such 
manifestation of sympathy and respect is held in ever-lasting remembrance 
before the “Father of all.”
