Ionia Sentinel Standard - Sept. 12, 1978


Mildred L. Johnson, 83, of 7560 Peck Lake Rd. formerly of Ionia, died Monday at 
Butterworth hospital.

She was born August 17, 1895 in Mecosta County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Charles Moore.

She married Orin DeGroat September 4, 1912. He preceded her in death in 1958. 
She married Harry Johnson in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1972.

Mrs. Johnson lived in Whitehall 1968 to 1975. Before that time, she lived in 
the Ionia and Saranac areas before moving to Whitehall.

Survivors include three daughters, Retha Marrow and Catherine Mills of Saranac 
and Caroline Allen of Ionia; one brother, Floyd Moore of Saladn, Utah, three 
step-sons, three step-daughters, 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 
one great-great-grandson in addition to several step-grandchildren and step-
great-grandchildren. 

Services are Thursday at 1:30 pm from the Myers-Roetman funeral home with 
burial in Easton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Wednesday, 2-
4 and 7-9 pm.
