He was born May 31, 1917 in Grand Rapids, the son of Ben and Minnie (Byle) De Haan. He was a WW II veteran of the Army and served for five years. He owned and operated Saranac Produce Co. for 40 years. He belonged to the Saranac Fire Department and was a member of the American Legion of Saranac and the VFW of Saranac. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Greta, July 28, 1975, and went on to marry Audris (Audie) Marjur November 12, 1983. He is survived by his wife, Audris, of Saranac; one brother, Abe De Haan, of Lowell; one brother-in-law, Clarence Ver Veer, of Grand Rapids; one sister-in- law; Jayne Robson, of Saranac; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny De Haan, and one sister, Helen Ver Veer. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Funeral Home in Saranac. Burial will be in the Saranac Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Saranac Fire Department or the Saranac Food Pantry (in care of the Saranac Community Church).
