DeHart, 72, 245 West Riverside drive, South Ionia, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at Ionia County Memorial hospital where he had been a patient nine days. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, June 20, 1887, the son of Seneca and Edellia Champlin DeHart and had resided in Ionia the past 45 years. A veteran of World War I, he served in France with Company D, 126th infantry, 32nd division. He was a member of Gerard Horrocks post American Legion. Mr. DeHart was married June 23, 1919 in Ionia to Ida Orth. He was employed at Stout elevator for many years and until his retirement. Surviving besides his wife, Ida, are a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Cooper of South Ionia; seven grandchildren one brother, Ernest DeHart of Holton and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at Boynton funeral home Friday at 2:30 p.m. with burial at Tuttle cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 until 9 o’clock.
