Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Patrick’s church with burial in Portland cemetery. Mr. DeLaney was 42 years of age. He was born in Middleton, Gratiot county, and came to Portland 21 years ago, later becoming associated with Fred England and Wright Wakley in the barber business, giving up that vocation several years ago going into the oil business with his father-in-law, Frank Fineis, and locating in Pewamo. Eleven years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Beatrice Fineis who, with an adopted son, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Kinney, of Pompeii, survive. The funeral, one of the largest ever held in Portland, was attended by members of the Dale E. Hyland post, American Legion, in a body, with Dr. Basil Lowry, William Harris, Albert Guidi, Oliver Tschopp, Mino Stegenga and Jack Haley acting as pallbearers.
