Demaray was born in Pickering, Canada, July 4th 1836 and passed away while sitting in his chair in his home in Lake Odessa October 25, 1912, aged 76 years, 3 months, and 21 days. September 19th 1856 he was united in marriage to Julia Ann Frank. The faithful wife and loving mother preceded him to the Home land June 5th of this year. He was converted at an early age uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church. In March 1868 he removed to Barry Co., this State and united with the United Brethren church, remaining a faithful member until the death covering a period of over 40 years. This in itself is a splendid tribute to his memory. To this union were born fourteen children, eight of whom survive them, five boys and three girls. These with one sister living in Canada, with other near relatives and close friends to remain to cherish in their hearts the memory of his devotions to his family, to the church and to the Saviour he loved to serve. The funeral was held from the United Brethren Church October 29th, 1912, Conducted by Rev. Davis and Rev. Jarvis. He was laid to rest beside his wife in Lakeside Cemetery. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled The boon his love had given. And through the body slumbers on, The soul is safe in Heaven.
