Demorest, 72, of 1009 West Main died suddenly at his home Friday evening. He had been ill on and off for the past six months. Born in Edmore, September 24, 1893, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Demorest and was married January 7, 1930. Mr. Demorest, a life member of Masonic lodge 36 of Ionia, served four years in World War I. He retired from Michigan State Police force in 1958. He was also a member of American legion post 283 of Lansing. Surviving are his wife, Hazel, two sons, Edward of Ionia and H. James of Lansing, one daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Ralston of Ionia, one sister, Mabel Shelly of Detroit, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home. Rev. Lester C. Bailey of the First Methodist church officiating. Interment will be Balcom cemetery.
