Demorest, wife of C. Lyle Demorest, passed away Tuesday evening at the farm home west of Smyrna after a long illness. Born at Detroit Nov. 20, 1880, she was the daughter of Jesse K. Hamilton and Elizabeth Knisely Hamilton. She was married to C. Lyle Demorest of Lansing May 18, 1914 at Amherstburg, Ontario, and lived in Lansing until 1932 when they moved to the farm home near Smyrna. She was a member of the South Baptist church in Lansing, also the Arbutus chapter No. 45 O.E.S. and Bethel Shrine No. 11, both of Lansing. She was also a member of the Fairview Farmers club, the Friendship and the Columbian clubs. She is survived by the husband and four children, Alice Elizabeth, Virginia C., C. Lyle, Jr., and Alan William; also by a sister, Mrs. S.D. Starnaman of Lansing and two brothers, Lawrence C. and S. Rayburn Hamilton of Holly. Funeral services will be held at the Fitzjohn funeral home at 3 p.m. Friday, August 14 and interment will be made in Otisco cemetery. Rev. Thomas Rice of the Methodist church will officiate at the rites and pallbearers will be Louis Longstreet, Lavern Taylor, Frank Slayton, John Geiger, Mack Byrne and Alvin Davis.
