Dec. 22, 1930 Aged Belding Woman Struck by Car, Dies Evidently having become bewildered while crossing a downtown Belding street while shopping late Saturday evening, Mrs. Agnes R. Demorest, 82, a widow and a longtime resident of the Silk city, died 20 minutes later in Belding Memorial hospital of a fractured skull. She was struck by a car driven by Harvey Root, a baker at Belding. The machine sideswiped the aged woman as Root applied the brakes to avoid hitting her. Falling backward, the woman's skull was fractured when she struck the pavement. The remains were taken to the Fitzjohn funeral home pending arrival of her son, Irving, from Detroit, to effect funeral arrangements. Coroner B.J. Boynton impaneled a jury, but after viewing the body, the group adjourned indefinitely. Additional Comments: River Ridge Cem.- Lot #63-Sec.I.
