The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, March 11, 1946
DeLos F. Dempsey, 81, known to his railroad friends at Jack, died Sunday 
evening, March 10 at the home of his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph 
Steinke of South Ionia.  He was born October 10, 1864 in Attica, Indiana, and 
moved to Howard City at the age of eight.  In 1886 he accepted a position with 
the Pere Marquette railroad and in 1889 he was married to Lillie Finkbeiner 
who preceded him in death.  He has been living with Mr. and Mrs. Steinke since 
1940.  The body is at the Myers funeral home and will be there until early 
Wednesday morning when it will be taken to Stanwood where services will be 
held at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at the Stanwood cemetery.
