Denman, beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 while surrounded by his family at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with ongoing health problems. He was born July 19, 1944, in Ionia, the son of Lloyd and Maxine (Reinhardt) Denman. He graduated from Saranac High School in 1963, where he played and excelled at football. He married Dodie on March 27, 1971 in Ionia. He was co-owner of Denman Farms in Berlin Township for most of his life. He was a member of the LeValley United Methodist Church Board and later a member of the Friendship Country Chapel Church Board. He was a past president of the Saranac FFA and a member of the Ionia Farm Power Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Dodie, of Saranac. Sons Lorren and Tracy Denman of Saranac, Dan and Sarah Denman of Saranac, Bryan Dye of Saranac; daughter Jackie Denman of Saranac; brothers Ronnie and Joan Denman of Tennessee, Duane and Diane Denman of Saranac; sisters Joan and Allen MacDonald of Ionia, Janet and Tom Swiger of Saranac; grandchildren Derek, Calvin, Chelsey and Dallas; mother-in-law Lorna Durkee of Lake Odessa; brother-in-law Deane and Sharon Durkee of Lake Odessa; sisters-in-law Donna and LaVon Deatsman of Lake Odessa, Dawn Deatsman of Lake Odessa; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Jack are 11 a.m. Monday at Lakewood United Methodist Church with Rev. David Flagel officiating. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation is at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Ionia Meals on Wheels or Hospice of Michigan in care of the funeral home.
