In the death of Mrs. Dennehy, Ionia lost one of its oldest citizens from the point of years of residence here. It also severed the companionship of 62 years. She was born in Ireland 82 years ago, and came to this country at the age of 16. Her husband was also of Irish nativity, and while they had the same acquaintances in Ireland they had never met until they came to this country. She was educated in an Irish convent. They were married in Ionia 62 years ago by Rev. Fr. Charles G. Boltie, pastor of the SS. Peter and Paul parish. Since their marriage they have lived in Ionia and for over 50 years in their present home. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, a kindly neighbor who refused to listen to any unkind words spoken of anyone. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Wuensch of New York, who has been living here for three weeks assisting in the care of her mother, and Mrs. William Zecci, of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
